POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Superintendent, Construction will manage, and control assigned projects, including overseeing field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination and work in conjunction with the Project Manager leading the project team.  They provide technical management and project leadership on construction projects at the field level. Responsibilities include directing the day-to-day activities onsite; planning crew activities in the short and long turn; resolving field construction issues; field level client relations; maintaining Strike’s high standard of safety and quality; managing small-to medium-sized projects or directing one portion of a major project and overseeing proper protocols in the field.

POSITION LOCATION/DETAILS
  • Permanent position in Edson
  • Preference for position to be filled by an individual living in the Edson region or willing to relocate
  • Both office and field-based execution dependent on the project needs may be required
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead in bidding and estimating new jobs as required, ensure the bid team has all relevant information relating to scope and constructability to produce a good bid
  • Manage the crews, sub-contractors and all other resources in order to complete the job
  • Actively participate in the construction planning and scheduling
  • Assist in bid for new jobs as required
  • Lead the overall implementation to ensure that the project is constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • If required, manage project budget, and project resource allocation
  • Ensure all field personnel complete required safety training and hold appropriate tickets
  • Ensure all field personnel comply with project procedures, safety requirements, and work and equipment maintenance procedures
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are operated and maintained in accordance with approved company standards and practices
  • Document all violations and incidents
  • Direct and coordinate multiple projects and groups in the field
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve conflicts and issues, and communicate changes to appropriate associations and clients
  • Endeavor to achieve Strike’s safety goals
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Related technical diploma or trade ticket preferred
Experience
  • Minimum five years supervising experience in oil, construction, or related industry
  • Minimum ten years of experience working in the oil and gas construction sector
  • Experience leading crews of 20 or more team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and blueprint reading
  • Sound knowledge of construction execution and best practices
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Estimating experience of Field and Shop Fabrication
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of participating in and facilitating group meetings
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills
  • Capable of working independently with minimal direction
  • Possesses an eye for detail
  • Will be required to travel
