JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the general manager, mine and non producing assets operations, you will be accountable for leading all aspects of autonomous haulage system implementation planning and execution for Oil Sands and Fort Hills. Your primary focus for the role will be to advance systems and processes to fully develop and prepare for implementation of the Autonomous Haul System technologies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analysis of complex multifunctional technical information
  • Make technology development plans integral with business planning process
  • Understand and integrate technical subject matter experts across areas and integrate them into business needs
  • Interface and drive autonomous technology within Fort Hills and act as a key resource for the Upstream business unit
  • Input into long term strategic project formation and execution
  • Continually improve processes and systems to ensure optimization of the businesses
  • Develop, socialize and resource gated processes integrated with the Asset Development and Execution Model (ADEM) and appropriate Suncor corporate processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree and eligible for professional designation with APEGA
  • Minimum 10 years related engineering experience in mining operations, preferably with significant experience in technology development and implementation

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to understand technical issues and develop innovative solutions that needs to be addressed
  • Strong track record of taking ideas from concept to implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to build key relationships with stakeholders
  • Superb project management skills, preferably on projects spanning across the company
  • Experience leveraging collaboration with industry,  government and professional associations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify strategic improvement opportunities and act decisively to realize those opportunities
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to produce desired outcomes
  • Good understanding of field hardware and electronics
  • Strong change management skills
  • Ability to manage financial commitments
  • Experience developing technology strategies in alignment with overall business strategy and long-range plan

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office environment, based in Calgary with periodic travel to Fort Hills site

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Terms of employment: Permanent Full Time, 40 hour work week, salaried, Calgary, Alberta, Canada location
  • Salary/Compensation package: Salary range from $150,000 to $210,000, negotiable depending on experience, four weeks' vacation, normal benefit plan, LTI and annual incentive programs
