OVERVIEW
 
Vertex is currently accepting applications for multiple project based Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Individuals will adhere to OH&S legislation and professional association protocols in line with the industry best practices. The successful candidate is required to maintain technical expertise, including knowledge of local systems, standards, policies and procedures. The EMT will provide advanced medical rescue service delivery to Vertex customers working in semiremote settings. The successful candidates will support the delivery of the highest quality of basic and advanced life support, medical rescue assessment and treatment. Candidates require previous industrial medical experience. Successful candidates must have valid professional registration and be in good standing with the applicable licensing board. The successful candidates must hold a valid Class 4 driver’s license and must have the ability to drive a Medical Treatment Centre (MTC). Candidates with registration in multiple jurisdictions and candidates whom have safety related work experience are encouraged to apply.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in accordance with the applicable Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code  • Demonstrate ability to provide first aid treatment and services corresponding to his/her qualifications • Proficient in the general scope of practice as outlined in the Medical Providers’ Medical Control Guidelines and Paramedics Scope of Practice  • Member of and in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics

 
 
 
INDUSTRIAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
• Minimum one to three years’ relevant experience required; industrial, pipeline, or construction setting preferred • Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry as it applies to medical company operations is an asset  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License (may be required to provide driver’s abstract). Must meet the licensing requirements of the Province of Alberta or British Columbia for operating an ambulance  • Must be able to drive an Medical Treatment Center (MTC) Unit • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and complete objectives with minimal supervision  • Current certification in International Trauma Life Support – Basic preferred • Healthcare Provider CPR – Level “C” required • Current safety training certificates in H2S Alive, PST/CSTS, TDG, WHMIS, and eGSO required • Current safety training certificate in Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST) is considered advantageous 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Provide advanced first aid/medical aid to employees to promote and support a healthy and safe work environment • Provide medical assessments and treatment plans, and implement follow up with evaluation of care • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with established medical records protocol • Manage sensitive and confidential information while displaying sound and objective judgment  • Ensure the medical station is in excellent functioning condition by completing various safety, inventory, and maintenance tasks  • Maintain equipment and ensure supplies are in current and working order • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively across multiple functional areas and various professional disciplines • Possess strong basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office • Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to health surveillance, training, and participation in health and safety programs 
LOCATION
 
Various position locations; positions will be based out of semi-remote locations in Alberta. Individuals would be required to mobilize from Calmar, Alberta
