Environmental Field Technician

The principal role of an Environmental Field Technician will be monitoring, detecting, quantifying, and reporting on emissions on oil and gas facilities, while promoting a healthy and safe workplace and ensuring top performance and quality service.

• Strong focus on promoting the safety culture at Intricate and ensuring that safe work procedures and processes are followed in the field

• Create and foster healthy working relationships with clients and vendors

• Focused on providing best-in-class services and ensuring quality workmanship

• Lead by setting a good example and engage the other team members to achieve goals

• Participate in all required department, area, and company meetings

• Expected to be 95% - 100% billable

• Expected to work in both field and office environments depending on current business needs

• Understanding of emissions regulations and guidelines across many jurisdictions, e.g., Directive 060 in Alberta, and OGC Fugitive Emission Management Guideline in BC.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Field role, including performing Fugitive Emission Surveys and screening – use and care of a FLIR GFx320 Optical Gas Imaging camera and other sophisticated tech.

• Complete technical trouble shooting and field maintenance

• Complete well site and facility shutdown checks and inspections

• Understand, interpret and trouble shoot RTU, EFM and PLC configurations

• Support small construction and CSU projects

• Responsible for calibration, maintenance, proving and inspections of gas and liquid measurement

• Interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams and schematics

• Apply AER Directive 017 regulations to work habits and procedures

• Collect / Validate Fuel, Flare & Vent Data (Understand the regulations to interpret this data)

• Understand high level reporting delineation, regulatory requirements, measurement best practices, etc.

• Provide training and mentorship to junior personnel

 

Qualifications / Experience

• High School Diploma

• 3rd or 4th Year Instrumentation Apprenticeship

• In-depth knowledge of field activities, oil and gas facilities

• Fluent with Microsoft Office, Google, and company software applications

• All required safety tickets (H2S, First Aid, etc.)

• Valid Alberta Class 5 operator’s license or equivalent with clean driver abstract

• Optical Gas Imaging Certification Training will be considered an asset

 

Physical Requirements

• Field, office, and shop environment

• Ability to manage and deal with every changing job requirements

• Required to drive to work sites

• Exposed to work site hazards while performing tasks

• Capable of lifting objects up to 50 lbs with aid as required
